I’ve never had issues with my birthday and turning a year older. The way I look at it, if I am fortunate enough to complete another trip around the sun, it’s hardly something I should fret over. Even if I had issues with turning 40, the events of my birthday week would have quickly pulled me out of my funk.
Dinner at Salsas with L and the kids, birthday cake and presents, trading dining room tables with a dear friend instead of dropping tons o’ moolah on a bigger one that I’ve wanted for some time, and receiving oodles of cards in the mail and birthday wishes on Facebook were some of the highlights of the week; however, hands down, the best surprise of all was having Aunt Anda and Molly come share the weekend with me (I didn’t even know Molly was coming until I saw her car in Amanda’s driveway!). There is nothing better than a girl’s weekend full of eating great food, shopping for sassy new clothes, and just hanging out in a coffee shop knitting and chatting. To top the day off, L and the rest of the family met us for dinner at Tupelo Honey. Complete bliss, I tell you, complete bliss. The next evening, the weekend ended with yet another treat as incredible friends had me in their home for dinner and thought provoking conversation (she is probably laughing at that description of the conversation as she reads this).
I love my family, I love my friends, I love my life. How can a birthday and every single day in between be nothing short of spectacular when you can make those statements? It can’t and and I hope I am able to spend at least 40 more years surrounded by so much love and good energy.
