The rabbit hole of Etsy is a deep one. Once I get sucked into it, it takes a long while to find my way out. But here’s the thing: It’s an easy platform to love when you’re supporting an artist. Especially if that artist creates work inspired by nature.
I reached out to a few of my favorite sellers of hiking and nature-inspired on Etsy, to see if they would like to be included in a special gift guide full of their creations. The reply I received was that of enthusiasm and excitement.
So without further ado, here is my favorite hiking and nature inspired art on Etsy, to purchase for your favorite fellow adventurer or even yourself.
Many of these artists provided exclusive coupon codes for friends of Hope and Feather Travels (that’s you, by the way, if you’re reading this!), so make sure to take advantage of them. Good luck deciding who to support, because you’re going to want something from each and every one of them.
Final Switchback
From artist and shop owner, Katie, “The contour lines are like fingerprints for nature. Each place and what you experience each time you go is unique. I aim to capture the connection people feel towards their favorite wild places.” I think you’ll agree with me that she nails her goal with her collection of art ranging from prints to ornaments to greeting cards. They’re all stunning, but I’m particularly fond of her Great Smoky Mountains National Park pieces pictured below since it’s my “home turf.”
Katie was generous enough to extend an exclusive code of HOPEANDFEATHER for 10% off your order.
The Traveling Penny
Zach and Tiffany, the artisans of the shop explain that, “Each piece is created from a repurposed coin—-a small token of exploration and story-telling that has traveled along through the hands of strangers. We hope that our pieces will travel with you wherever you go and be a constant reminder to seek out all of life’s adventures.”
I just love that and I am completely smitten with their work. The Traveling Penny creates everything from necklaces to bracelets to keychains to magnets, all from repurposed pennies. I have ordered a couple of products for gifts for fellow hiker friends, and it was really special, customizing them with the coordinates of meaningful spots on the trails we traversed.
The Traveling Penny is currently offering free shipping and 15% off all orders!
Just Jaynes
From Cathy, the artist behind Just Jayne’s, “My goal is to provide you with thoughtful, personal jewelry.” Your favorite sentiment can be crafted into a long-lasting keepsake and each piece is hand stamped, letter by letter. Simply beautiful and so personal. Jayne offers an assortment of jewelry, everything from necklaces to bracelets to earrings. My personal favorites are her mountain and zodiac necklaces.
Just Jaynes has graciously offered friends of Hope and Feather Travels 15% off with coupon code HOPEANDFEATHER.
Kindled Hearts
Have you ever “met” someone online and become friends even before meeting them? It sums up my relationship with Kindel, this shop’s artist. We’re both very active hikers in the Smokies and follow each other on Instagram. One of the coolest things I discovered about Kindel is how amazing of an artist she is, and how much her work resonates with me! I imagine you’ll agree that she’s one talented woman. She has a heart of gold too, so it’s easy to want to support her work!
(and then she Kindel is offering my readers a special 25% discount with code GIFTOFNATURELOVE.
Ultra Gam
Theresa, Ultra Gam’s artist, discovered a passion for making colorful and fun gaiters for her friends, before they ran an ultra in Arizona! Turns out, her talent caught on quickly and soon she was selling them in an Etsy shop! She makes more than awesome gaiters though–arm sleeves, calf sleeves, and headbands are all part of her magic. Soooo many fun and colorful designs to go through (and you can get them with or without the bling).
Ultra Gam extended a great discount to readers of Hope and Feather Travels: Use code HOPE15 to receive 15% off (and you’ll also get free shipping)!
Well Told
I’m pretty sure I’d be willing to thru hike the entire Appalachian Trail if it meant rewarding myself with a cool Katahdin glass like the one picture (but if the truth be told, I’d be willing to hike it even without the glass). Well Told’s mission is, “To create distinctive, well-made goods and gifts that tell your story and inspire you to live memorably.” They do a damn fine job of fulfilling it with their unique products.
Well Told graciously extended a discount to my readers of 10% by using code HOPEFEATHER10 through 1/15/20.
Once Again Sam
I learned of Once Again Sam by searching for a unique gift to give my daughter. I was quickly swept into the vortex of this Etsy shop’s magic that I could hardly get anything else done for the next hour, as I perused page after page of beautiful work.
Susan, the artist behind this eclectic and versatile shop, states that, “I design and make affordable modern jewelry using re-purposed materials such as leather and wood. I’m also a fiber artist and I work with wool fiber to create needle felted sculptures that range from realistic-looking plants, to quirky sea creatures, and even anatomical hearts.” These two photos are just a tiny sampling of the dozens of nature-inspired creations you’ll find in her shop.
Once Again Sam was gracious enough to extend a 10% coupon code to my readers: Use HOPEANDFEATHER through the end of the 2019 and good luck deciding what to buy, because you’re going to want all of it!
Erin Vaughan
I learned of Erin Vaughan’s work at the wedding of a dear friend who is a long distance thru hiker. One of the people I sat near during the dinner reception raved about her work, and I’ve been a big fan of it ever since. Everything she creates just makes me happy. And that’s never a bad thing to be. 🙂
Erin has a beautiful collection of all sorts of items for sale: Calendars, note cards, prints, etc. They’re all wonderful and she draws her inspiration from the natural world, including many national park scenes.
Calibrated Carvings
According to Eric, the artist of this unique shop, “Calibrated Carvings began as a passion project, combining the technicality of mechanical engineering with the free expression of hand-built artwork.” There’s nothing better than combining a professional trade with a bit of your creative side. eric excels, and I love his unique carvings. His magnets and air plant holders are especially fun!
Eric is graciously extending an offer to my readers of 10% off most listings (wall decor is excluded) by using code THANKYOU123.
The Scrubby Pine
The Scrubby Pine’s artist, Darlah, reminds us that Scrubby Pine art is “inspired by over two decades of chasing music and our everlasting lust for outdoor adventure.” I especially love her collection of Christmas ornaments and how they can be personalized to your own adventure. I think this would make a very special gift for a thru hiker who has finished their journey this year. But really, everything she makes is so wonderful and I love the clever use of paracord in her jewelry!
Darlah, the artist behind the treasures at The Scrubby Pine has offered friends of Hope and Feather Travels 10% off by using coupon code HANDF10 plus FREE domestic shipping.
Riveted Oak Designs
Lindsey, the owner of this shop, is in my Facebook Group. I loved discovering that she’s an artist and makes such functional and fun gear! In her words, “My products are tough and useful but stylish and fun.” I couldn’t agree more and these photos are a small sampling of everything she makes. I think these small pouches would make a great emergency survival bag to carry on your body during a hike. My kit contains waterproof matches, a lighter, petroleum jelly soaked vaseline balls, a copy of my driver’s license and insurance card, and a small pocket knife.
Lindsey is running a sale in her shop through 12/3/19 (automatic discount) on UL organization and accessories.
Map Your Travels
Map Your Travels has been in business since 2000 which is a testament to their products. It all started when some family members brainstormed how to create and sell a “grown-up” version of the handmade travel map one of them used as a kid.
Their creations are unique and are sure to become a favorite in anyone’s home, especially if they visit National Parks. You can purchase them framed or unframed and personalize them to your liking. Their print of Great Smoky Mountains National Park really resonates with me and gives me the same tranquil vibe every time I’m on my “neighborhood” park’s trails.
Map Your Travels has generously offered a 15% coupon code of MAPYOURTRAVELS15 for Hope and Feather Travels.
NATURE inside
I love the slogan behind NATUREinside: Feeding your eyes, feeding your soul. According to Vincent, the shop’s artist, “Today, so much of our time is spent indoors on electronics, away from the majesty of nature…. So instead of decrying time spent working (or playing) on laptops, the team at Natureinside found a way to bring more of the healing powers of nature to technology.”
Vincent creates stunning Macbook skins which are sure to ease the pain of working on your computer versus spending time in these majestic scenes. I have one on the way for my own Mac and I can’t wait to show it off!
Vincent was kind enough to share a coupon code with friends of Hope and Feather Travels. Use code HOPEFEATHER30 to receive 30% off.
Wild Slice Designs
According to artist, Nicole, Wild Slice Designs has “Hand Drawn designs inspired from Nature’s Beauty.” I love her stickers and clothing especially, but she also creates really cool mugs and pillows from her artwork.
Nicole provided me with a special code for my readers: THANKYOU for 10% off any sticker order from Wild Slice Design’s store.
Piedmont Brand
Keeping with the theme of wall art, Piedmont Brand speaks to my North Carolina heart since the artist, Dave, lives here as well. If you’re the type who loves and takes photos of signs on hikes, you’ll love his work as much as I do. As he relayed to me, “I made a couple National Forest sign replicas of places we had been and all of the sudden I had several people ask me to do personalized versions and even send me their hiking photos to replicate signs they saw on the trail.” It’s easy to see why his store has been successful and he can customize orders as well, including creating state flags.
He also makes gorgeous barn quilt hangings and unique t-shirts.
Kenna Sato Designs
If you’re looking to be a bit more bold with your nature-inspired wall art, Kenna Sato Designs will be your new best friend. McKenna, the artist, has been wildly successful on Etsy with her hand-drawn designs that she transforms into amazing wall decals.
Kenna Sato Designs offers a wide variety of affordable decals which would fit well in everything from a living room to a child’s bedroom. It’s so difficult to narrow down all the choices! I did, however, narrow it down for myself finally and purchased the decal pictured below with the mountains and sun. I love it and it was very easy to apply to my wall.
McKenna kindly provided me with a discount code to share with my readers: 10% off your purchase using coupon code TENOFFKSD.
Chocolate Presents
Switching gears to food gifts, prepare to drool when you peruse the offerings at Chocolate Presents. Seriously, it will blow your mind how clever some of the designs Angelina, the primary chocolatier, creates. They offer an entire selection of chocolate gifts molded to choose from, for multiple outdoor activities, and they can also take any image you provide them and create a custom chocolate “postcard” with it!

Stamped Serendipity is offering 20% for friends of Hope and Feather Travels by using coupon code HOPE20.
Massive Wanderlust
Massive Wanderlust….you just have to love the name of this shop! Olivier, the artist, creates all kinds of unique maps which are completely customizable and have a fun scratch-off feature. I also love his topographical maps of various peaks. It would make a super cool gift for someone you know who has summited on of them (or for yourself, if you’re that kind of bad ass!).
Olivier was kind enough to offer friends of Hope and Feather Travels a unique coupon code of HOPEANDFEATHERS of 12% off his products.
Mack and Madi
Up next in my favorites: Mack and Madi. If you’re looking for a fun gift for a girlfriend, this store’s wine tumblers are the best! I know because one of my besties gave me one and I smile every time I use it. Mack and Madi also creates whimsical coffee mugs and wine glasses.
Mack and Madi is generously offering friends of Hope and Feather Travels 10% off using coupon code HOPEANDFEATHER15.
Jago’s Illustrations
Jago is an illustrator for children’s books and the art in his Etsy shop, Jago’s Illustrations, is reflective of that. It’s whimsical and endearing. I absolutely love some of his prints, but he also makes so many other things: gift cards, mugs, pins, jewelry, and even calendars. Tell me you don’t fall in love with all of it once you take a peek!
Jago’s Illustrations was kind enough to offer my readers a discount of 25% off using coupon code HOPEANDFEATHER19 through 1/30/20. His shipping to the US is very affordable, by the way, so don’t let it sway you from looking at his beautiful work.
Knapsack Traveler
Knapsack Traveler specializes in all sorts of fabulous one-of-a-kind art that she hand draws with a tablet on her computer. Her vintage National Park posters are my absolute favorite, but you can’t go wrong with any of her work which includes mugs, t-shirts, and other home decor.
Knapsack Traveler has shared a coupon to use through 12/31/19 for 15% off: DESIGNINGHOPE
Wandering Arts Crafts
Another North Carolina artist representing, and I couldn’t love her products more! Melinda, the artist, makes all sorts of unique decals, mugs, and ornament for her shop, Wandering Arts Crafts. Everything she creates is so special, but her decals are my absolute favorite. They’re perfect for decorating an ugly bear canister with and making it something you’re excited about carrying with you!
Melinda was kind enough to extend a coupon code of HOPEANDFEATHERS for 10% off your order.
The Traveled Lane
If you’re a hiker or backpacker, you undoubtedly love maps. I could study them for days, dreaming and scheming. Kelly, the artist behind Traveled Lane knows my heart well with her topographical map coaster set. She actually creates coasters of all sorts of maps, along with totes, pillows, and ornaments.
According to Kelly, her “decor tells the story of who you are and where you’ve been.” I simply love it.
Kelly graciously extended an offer of 10% off of $25 or more with code HIKE2019.
Justin’s UL
Next, a more functional work of art from a shop started by an avid backpacker named Justin. Justin’s UL was “designed around simple trail born ideas that were then put into action for the last few years to come up with the lightest, simplest, and most functional backpacking accessories to ease your hike.” He designs and creates all sorts of practical accessories, but my favorites are his water bottle and cell phone pouches, designed to attach to the shoulder straps of your backpack. Pure genius right there and products that I use on each and every hike these days.
Sprouted Scribbles
Sprouted Scribbles is one of those Etsy stores that you can’t stop smiling as you scroll through the work. Travis, the artist, is based in Asheville, NC which is right down the road from me. He has lots of fun regional stickers for sale, as well as postcards and magnets. Pretty sure some of these are going in my kids’ stockings this year–some of his funny Yeti designs are right up their teenage humor alley! But really, you can’t go wrong with his fun, whimsical designs, for anyone on your gift giving list!
Right now, Sprouted Scribbles is running a sale with 10% off regular prices.
Bittersweet Canvas
The artist behind Bittersweet Canvas, Maria, lives in the Pacific Northwest and is inspired by nature with everything she creates. It shows in her work and I love her decals and Christmas ornaments, but I especially love her custom painted trucker hats and barn wood paintings.
Odysea
Los Angeles based artisan Alyssa shares that, “I design shit for people like me. For the surfers, for the campers, the vanlifers, the mountain climbers, and the adventurers. Oh and I adore the mountains.” She already spoke to my soul before I even looked at her art!
Odysea designs the most wonderful collection of mugs. Camp coffee will undoubtedly taste better in one of them, especially if you choose to personalize it.
Odysea has generously offered readers of Hope and Feather Travels 15% off storewide on her website with coupon code HOPEANDFEATHER.
Travel and Trail
Any Darwin on the Trail fans out there? If so, you need to know about Travel and Trail because it’s run by his wife, Snuggles! She is actually in the process of phasing out this shop, but I expressed to her that her unique vintage items, especially the ones centered around the Smokies (see photos below) were too good not to share. I’m so tempted by the Clingman’s Dome salt and pepper shakers, so if they’re gone by the time you read this post, you can probably assume they are sitting in my kitchen on a shelf. 🙂
Yardia
Yardia gifts the world with Pacific Northwest-inspired cards and gifts for nature lovers. I love the style of her art–it’s very soothing. Brigida, the artist, creates all sorts of wonderfulness such as cards, prints, mugs, and ornaments. And the quotes on some of her work aren’t the typical quotes you find on a lot of nature-inspired gifts these days. I like that she thinks outside the box and creates something unique.
Whew, this was the most time consuming blog post I’ve ever written, not because it was difficult but because I once again got sucked into the Etsy rabbit hole as I was creating it! The talent of these artisans is something I admire and want to support with my hard earned dollars. I hope you’ll do the same, both for yourself and as gifts for others!
If you’d like other ideas for gifts at Etsy, be sure to check out these themed gift guides too!
P.S. If you’d like to stay up to date with the latest and greatest deals and sales in the backpacking, hiking and camping industry, I encourage you to check out this page on my blog where I share the best deals I can find from both major retailers as well as cottage gear companies. I update the page daily and love sharing my knowledge with fellow outdoor adventurers (especially if they’re gear junkies like I am).
